Remembering Denny

Denny is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jan, his son TJ (Raegen), daughter Jamie (Mark), and his grandchildren who were his best friends, Myah, Weston, Hazel, and Jones, as well as all of his loved ones from the Lamers and Chew families. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (Steve), and other family members. Denny was proud to have served his country in the Army, after which he studied engineering at the University of Wisconsin and (as Denny would say) earned his masters from the "school of hard knocks."

Denny became a local business leader, working at McMahon since 1975, serving as its president for 33 years. He was proud to have grown McMahon to be a top 500 engineering firm in the U.S. and always prioritized taking care of the employees and their families. Denny's favorite activity was racing at Road America and other tracks around the country with his Lamers Motor Racing team. When he wasn't driving a race car, he was happiest cutting grass by the lake, woodworking in his shop, and giving tractor rides to the grandkids who were the joy of his life.

Denny and Jan contributed to countless projects and causes in the Fox Valley area. In 2014, they founded the Lamers Family Foundation to focus more on giving back to their community, including helping people on an individual basis. Denny had a special place in his heart for helping improve the quality of life of children in the area. Denny turned his passion for racing into an annual fundraiser event, the Lamers Driving Experience. It's impossible to describe the positive impact Denny had on the community and those around him.
